What's new in i3CONNECT CORTEX 3.0?
Overview of what’s new in i3CONNECT CORTEX 3.0
Wait what? Yes, that’s right! i3RDM is now called i3CONNECT Cortex. We fully rebranded and expanded our remote device management application and we’re very excited to show it! Let’s dive right in.
Rebranded look & feel

First things first. i3RDM is now i3CONNECT Cortex, or in short Cortex. More then just a name change, this includes a lot of powerful new capabilities in a mobile friendly visual refresh that meets the new i3CONNECT branding. Take a look around and feel free to tell us what you think of it!
The new Settings app with many … many more settings

We merged all the device settings into the Settings app, a structured and user friendly app that was designed to be consistent with the Settings app that users will find on our i3CONNECT Studio suite that we’re gradually rolling out now to replace i3STUDIO. The app will be the same for i3STUDIO enabled displays and i3CONNECT Studio displays but the latter will allow for many more configurable settings.
i3CONNECT Studio settings

Currently, we are rolling out i3CONNECT Studio on the i3CONNECT displays ELM2, X3 and Sixty3 already, allowing administrators a number of additional settings such as:
Configure a new SSID from Cortex
Disable “Google Services” for EDLA devices
Configure Allsync settings from Cortex
Configure Whiteboard export methods
and many more
To learn more about the Settings app and all the settings that are available, please consult the documentation.
What this means for configurations
Almost all settings are or will soon be available as a configuration which can be applied to one or more other displays. This evidently means that configurations also needed a redesign to allow for a user friendly overview of all those settings. Learn how to create, edit and apply configurations from the documentation.
Walnut support
TBD
Start stop pause sessions

Guest sessions will wipe all data from the i3CONNECT display when the session ends. To allow users to temporarily leave the display without losing all that data, we implemented the option to pause a session. This can be configured from within the i3CONNECT Settings app, under Access Management.
Make sure to have at Guest sessions or User Profiles enabled for this to work.

See Managing access to your i3CONNECT displayfor more information.
Lock screen tiles
i3CONNECT displays with guest sessions and/or User Profiles enabled, show a Home screen which either requires you to sign in or start a new guest session. But what about display users who just quickly want to use any of the display’s input sources?

You can now configure i3CONNECT Studio enabled displays to allow users to bypass the user access and immediately switch to a connected external source. Up to 3 sources can be configured in the i3CONNECT Cortex Settings app.
Organizations, the multi-tenancy feature in Cortex

Organizations is a multi-tenancy based architecture within i3CONNECT Cortex, which allows multiple accounts to share the responsibilities of managing the same or multiple fleets of i3CONNECT displays, often spread over multiple institutions, without the need to sign out of one account and having to sign on to another. See the documentation for more info.
